Tasting Notes
The wine evokes flavors of caramel, raisins, plum, raspberry liquor and aromas of dried cherries and cloves. The wine displays rich flavors of sweet and lush chocolate with a brick red hue.
Vineyard Notes
Volcano Ridge Vineyard is located on the steep slopes of an extinct cinder cone at 2,200 feet above sea level on the eastern end of High Valley. The pure volcanic soils are ideal for vine stress, restricting crop yields, and making wine that has both intensity and elegance.
Production Notes
The 2005 Zinfandel Elevado is a fortified dessert wine made in the style of port from Portugal. The brandy used in the fortification was made from our estate-grown Zinfandel by the world-renowned artisan distillers of Germain Robin.
